Neurofeedback Training

So, what is neurofeedback?  You may have heard of biofeedback.

Biofeedback is a well-established technique that has been used by medical professionals for many years to help patients control a variety of body functions.

For example, biofeedback has been used to help control heart rate or to relieve pain.  When using biofeedback you are connected to electrical sensors that help you receive information about how your body is working – like a heart rate monitor.  Using this feedback you are able to make changes to how your body works – like slowing your heart rate.

Well, neurofeedback is a type of biofeedback and it works in the same way except that the part of the body you are able to control is your brain! Really!

When doing neurofeedback your brainwaves are monitored through our state-of-the-art wireless EEG (electroencephalogram) helmet.  When the brain functions within the range that has been determined as more functional you will get feedback that tells you how your brain is working.  Subconsciously you then “tell” your brain to keep doing that, thereby operating in a more functional way.

Over time, usually at least 20 sessions, you will retrain your brain, so that it operates in a more functional way.

We have helped our clients use neurofeedback to alleviate a wide variety of symptoms including:

Migraine headaches
Anxiety
Nightmares, flashbacks, and other symptoms associated with PTSD
Depression
ADD/ADHD and Asperger’s
Traumatic Brain Injury
And More!
